Compressing...
Three steps. No account. No waiting on servers.
Drop your PDF. It never leaves your device.
Type the exact KB or MB you need. Or let us recommend one.
Preview both versions. Text stays sharp. Signatures stay intact.
Most PDF tools compress to whatever size they feel like. We compress to the size you need.
Type "500 KB" and get just under 500 KB. Not "small", not "medium" — the actual number you need.
Compression happens inside your browser. Your file never touches our servers. Open DevTools to verify.
Before you compress, we analyse the PDF and show you what's achievable. No surprises after the download.
If a PDF can't shrink without hurting readability, we tell you. We don't hand you a blurry file and hope.

I typed 500 KB. It gave me 480 KB. The small print is still readable. And the file never left my computer.
Everything you might want to know before uploading.
Yes — completely. No login, no usage limits, no watermark, no hidden charges, no premium tier. Compression runs on your device, so we have no server costs to pass on.
No. Everything happens inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your PDF is never transmitted anywhere. You can verify this by opening DevTools → Network tab while compressing — you'll see no upload request.
Instead of choosing "low / medium / high" compression and hoping, you type the number you need — 500 KB, 1 MB, 200 KB — and TargetPDF finds the best quality that fits under that number. It's the difference between guessing and knowing.
No. Text is never touched — only images get resized to hit your target. If the PDF is scanned (image-only), we detect that and warn you before compressing.
Every PDF has a floor — the smallest size it can reach without becoming unreadable. When your target is below that floor, we tell you the honest minimum and offer to compress to it instead. We don't silently hand you a blurry file.
Small PDFs (under 1 MB) finish in 2–5 seconds. Large scanned documents can take 30–60 seconds because all the work happens on your device. You'll see a progress bar the whole time.
10 MB. Larger files would take too long to process locally. For very big documents, a dedicated desktop tool like Ghostscript is still faster.
Yes. The tool is fully responsive. On mobile, PDF previews open in a new tab instead of side-by-side, since phone browsers don't render PDFs inline.
Yes. Signatures and stamps are part of the page image or vector layer, and Ghostscript preserves them by default. We only resize embedded images to reduce size.
Not yet. Batch compression is on our roadmap. For now, compress one file, download it, then compress the next.
